Facebook bug reavealed users emails and phone-number of 6 million users approx.

A bug, which has been fixed, implied that the site collated info about  Facebook users to create master records which includes  email addresses and phone numbers  that the owners had never intended to share.

Facebook expressed this was “upset and embarrassed” by the issue & had informed its authorities.

If Facebook users uploaded their address book towards the website, emails and also phone numbers were connected with profiles of their friends on server of Facebook. Other users who subsequently downloaded info about friends, using Facebook’s Download Your info tool, were then presented with the whole record.

Facebook claimed it connected the information so that it could make sure users were invited to interact with friends who were already on the website, instead of ask to existing users that they invite people to join.

Although 6 million users suffered around the world, it's considereded that around 200,000 of those stay in the United Kingdom. Facebook expressed its own ‘white hat’ security programme lead to the discovery of the bug and its fixing. It's emailing all those people who have been affected, but is not breaking down numbers user officially by Country.
