No Updates for Blackberry playbook tab as promised

This January, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins claimed the 7 inch BlackBerry PlayBook tab would get updated to BlackBerry 10. Now that seemed to be a no-brainer considering that the tab came to stores powered by the QNX OS that became the building blocks of BlackBerry 10. It will be a big step backward in BlackBerry's attempt to overcome many years of poor business decisions made by past management.


When current CEO Thorsten Heins took over, he instantly seemed to turn around a company which really had not had strong leadership in years. The launches early this year of new BlackBerry10 models had lit a fire under the organization in an attempt to make it acceptable once again.

The information that the BlackBerry PlayBook will not be updated came during the conference call on Friday with experts. Heins said during the conversation that his designers were unable to get a acceptable performance on the slate with the new operating system. Early this year, the BlackBerry CEO predicted that tab market would be dead in five years.

And Considering the failure of BlackBerry to deliver on a promise it made as early as March -  2012, we're  not going to put too much trust in that forecast. The problem is not so much that the update cannot be done, but that it was assured to long-suffering BlackBerry PlayBook owners in the first place. After all, this is a Tab that was launched without an email or calendar client which was amazing considering the manufacturer's reputation for that way it handles email and business programs.
